The STATE of Soccer in WASHINGTON
The Tacoma Stars have announced the players being called back for more after the indoor side held their open tryouts. The list of players reads like an all-star team of local talent. Meanwhile the league posted a preliminary schedule that would see Tacoma open their home season December 3rd.
The Tacoma Stars will have some of the very best local players to select from as they begin practices and whittle down their roster ahead of the 2011-12 PASL-Pro arena soccer season.
The Stars, who will play their season at the indoor fields at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila while they build a facility back home, drew players from all of the PDL (outdoor) sides and more to their recent open tryouts. Here are the players Tacoma called back, with last club in parenthesis.

The callbacks are an interesting blend of recent Stars players, plenty of Kitsap Pumas guys (The Bremerton club will field a team indoors this winter as well, in the PASL-Premier), some Sounders, and guys who have been on the roster for Tacoma Tide FC, North Sound SeaWolves, Washington Crossfire and the Wenatchee Fire.
PASL-Pro posts preliminary 2011-12 Schedule
Buried amongst the links at www.ArenaLeague.com is the preliminary schedule for the Tacoma Stars. These things are known to be a work in progress, but as of now the club opens on the road in Turlock, California against the Express Novermber 4 & 5. Tacoma’s home openers are scheduled for a month later against the Phoenix Monsoon.
Lots of arena soccer balls in the air
There is still much to be decided, or perhaps announced, in regards to arena soccer in our region. The PASL-Pro now lists Vancouver BC as having a club, though they are unnamed and so far don’t appear on the Stars schedule.
Fans in Bremerton (Pumas), Wenatchee (Fire), Everett (Skyhawks) and Bellingham (Rapids) will be wondering about the PASL-Premier this winter. On their Facebook page South Sound Football Club has posted:
South Sound FC has committed to having a team in the PASL Premier League! Tryout announcements will be posted in the next day or so, should be around Oct 27-28. Get ready boys, we’re done talking about this it’s time to act and do work!
and then to a reply responded with:
As of right now we will be playing our home games in Gig Harbor and training at both Tacoma and Gig Harbor facilities. We need to iron out a few more details on the home games.
South Sound FC plans to represent Tacoma / South Sound in this league while the Stars play in the PASL-Pro at Starfire.
