It was a night of thrillers in Sammamish at the KingCo regular season championships. Issaquah scored late to send their match with rivals Skyline into overtime, and Redmond also forced overtime against Eastlake with a late tally.
The schools that fought from behind eventually fell in overtime.
The top-ranked Skyline Spartans used a goal from Sidne Tingey to edge Issaquah’s Eagles 2:1 for the KingCo title while Eastlake edged Redmond on penalty kicks to claim third place.
“What I like about our girls is our resiliency, and in the overtime, our leadership really began to show,” said Skyline coach Don Braman to the Issaquah Press.
“And we were ready to have somebody step up. I thought tonight, Issaquah did a good job of getting all their players involved. They took an intense risk leaving us one-on-one at the back.”
