The STATE of Soccer in WASHINGTON
The 2011-12 PASL-Pro season has not begun well for the Tacoma Stars. The club was called for a whopping ten penalties putting the Turlock Express at a man advantage for much of Tacoma’s 7:3 loss Saturday night.

The Stars took their first lead of the new season when Vitalie Bulala scored an unassisted goal in the first quarter at the Turlock Indoor Soccer Center. It was 3:3 at the half when Ian Weinberg brought Tacoma level with about a minute to go before the break. Leighton O’Brien scored Tacoma’s other first-half marker.
The second half was all Turlock on the scoreboard, and was marred by numerous penalties and a red card ejection for “violent conduct” issued to Tacoma striker Eli Gordley. In all the Stars were issued eight penalties in the second half, putting the Express on power plays (man advantage) for a total of 19 minutes. The Express scored four of their seven goals on power plays. Turlock ran away with the volatile second half by outscoring the Stars 4:0 to claim their 7:3 win.
Adrian Gutierrez led the Express effort with a hat trick.
The Stars won’t see league action again until December 3rd when they host the Phoenix Monsoon at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila for a 7:00 PM home opener kick off.
