KIRKLAND, Wash. – #3 seed Corban University (Ore.) scored in each half to defeat #2 seed Northwest University in the Cascade Conference semifinal game this afternoon on the NU Athletic Field. Corban advances to Saturday’s championship final in Portland, Ore. against #1 seed Concordia.

Devin Chaney took Tyler Hagen’s pass to score the game winner in the 20th minute of the first half. His shot went passed NU goalkeeper Joe Galbraith’s outstretched hands from 12 yards out, just right of center. Northwest had an early opportunity to score in the 2nd minute of the game as Edgar Esquivel shot was saved by Corban goalie, Steve Mason and Luke Fischer’s header off the deflection was also saved by Mason who earned the shutout.
Corban’s Tyler Hagen scored on a penalty kick at the 68:43 mark when NU goalkeeper, Galbraith, was whistled for a foul in the penalty box setting up Hagen’s goal. Northwest kept pressing, but each time Steve Mason turned them away. NU outshot Corban 25-9 (10 shots on goal to 4), but Mason’s solid defense in goal earned him 9 saves for the game.
Northwest finishes the season with an 11-5-3 mark while Corban improved their season record to 11-7-1. The CCC championship game is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Portland on Saturday.
