SeaWolves FC announce 16-game schedule, new home stadium

EDMONDS, Wash. — The North Sound SeaWolves will open their 16-game Premier Development League 2012 season on Sunday, May 20 at the Fraser Valley Mariners, kicking off the second season for the PDL soccer team.

SeaWolves FC Press Release

The SeaWolves will play their eight home games at Edmonds Stadium (7600 212th St. SW, Edmonds, WA 98026) this season after playing at Goddard Stadium in South Everett in 2011.

“We’re very excited to be playing at Edmonds Stadium this season,” SeaWolves owner/coach Alex Silva said. “We’re thankful to the Edmonds School District for accommodating us and we look forward to bringing a high level of soccer to Snohomish County again this year.”

The SeaWolves’ first home match will be Friday, June 1 against the Washington Crossfire, followed by a game June 3 in which the SeaWolves will play host to defending PDL champion Kitsap Pumas. The homestand continues June 6 against the Vancouver Whitecaps U-23 team and concludes June 10 against the Fraser Valley Mariners.

The other home games will be played in late June, with matchups against the Washington Crossfire (June 20), the Victoria Highlanders (June 22), a Monday night matchup with the Portland Timbers U-23 team (June 25) and a match against the Sounders FC U-23 team (June 29).

The SeaWolves compete in the Northwest Division of the PDL, the highest level of amateur soccer in the United States. The division has two newly-named teams, as the Tacoma Tide are now the Sounders FC U-23 team and the Abbotsford Mariners are now the Fraser Valley Mariners. The Sounders’ affiliation with Tacoma gives the division three Major League Soccer developmental teams (including Portland and Vancouver) on top of Kitsap, making it one of the toughest divisions in the PDL.

“Fans are going to see some players who were drafted by Major League Soccer, in some cases have played with the MLS senior team and guys who play at major colleges,” Silva said. “It’s a great challenge for us and a great opportunity for fans to see very good soccer in their own community.”

The SeaWolves will be hosting an open tryout Saturday, Feb. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Edmonds Stadium. The club is also hosting a youth camp for ages 8-11 from March 16 to April 13 at Mariner High School. Information for both events as well as season ticket information is available on the SeaWolves’ website (www.seawolvesfc.com).
