It was another great weekend of high school soccer action around The WA as schools fought it out for places at the upcoming State weekend semifinals and finals.
4A: In Silverdale the Central Kitsap Cougars edged the Issaquah Eagles 1:0 before a boisterous orange-clad crowd. In a South Sound battle the Bellarmine Prep Lions topped the Puyallup Vikings, 4:1. Central Valley (Spokane) earned its first-ever trip to the semis with a 3:2 victory over Davis (Yakima.) Skyview of Vancouver ended Lake Stevens’ run with a 3:0 shutout.
3A: The Shorewood Thunderbirds lost their first match of the year at a bad time for them, falling to Bainbridge 3:2 in penalty kicks. Mountainview ousted Camas, 2:1. Eastmont destroyed Mt. Spokane 8:0. Mercer Island advanced past Mount Vernon, 3:0.
2A: Tumwater rolled into the semis with a 3:1 conquest of Franklin Pierce. Fife ended the reign of Bellingham school championships with a 4:1 ender of Squalicum. Joe Albi Stadium in Spokane hosted Cheney’s 2:1 win over Toppenish. Archbishop Murphy edged Bellingham 1:0 in Everett.
1A: Ridgefield’s Spudders remain alive after taking Seattle Academy, 3:1. The Goats of Chelan pulled the upset over the Highland Scotties in Cowiche, 2:1. Royal beat Seattle Christian 3:1. Overlake topped Vashon Island, 4:0.
