The name and jersey colors have changed, but the result at Bremerton Memorial Stadium on Saturday night looked very familiar. The Kitsap Pumas took another one from a team that plays in Tacoma.

The Ruffneck Cup is underway after the Kitsap Pumas beat the Sounders U-23′s 3:1 on May 19. Before the match the stadium scoreboard welcomed the “Tacoma Tide.” During the match the public address announcer referred to the visitors as “Seattle.” The U-23′s are neither, hoping to build a fanbase in the greater Tacoma area. The former Tide will have to wait for their first-ever win over the Pumas, who have now won five straight over them with a draw thrown in, since 2009.
The Pumas got goals from (see video) Matt Friesen and Ben Truax. The U-23′s answered with a long strike from Sean Morris.

Scarves call them “Seattle Sounders U-23.” Yikes.
(Greater) Tacoma must be the new Seattle
