Cam Vickers spent a few summers playing for the former Tacoma Tide FC. On Thursday morning before a record crowd of over 8,000 at Portland’s Jeld-Wen Stadium the Lake Tapps (Auburn Riverside HS) player scored a goal and notched two assists for the Timbers U-23′s as they handed Kitsap their worst-ever loss.
“The way the boys performed in the first half, I thought it was going to be nil-nil at halftime,” Kitsap coach James Ritchie told the Kitsap Sun. “Then all of a sudden, it’s 3-0 in five minutes. There were a couple of lackadaisical mistakes — it’s frustrating.”
The Timbers U-23′s scored goals in the 33rd, 34th and 39th minutes to break the match open. The game was watched by 8,029 fans, boosted by students bussed in for Health and Fitness School Day.
