The Vancouver Whitecaps were caught in traffic and Friday’s match in Bremerton started almost an hour late. The Kitsap Pumas offense never arrived.
The 0:0 draw was a letdown for the Pumas, who previously had been on a hot streak. In this contest it was the Whitecaps with the better of the play and nearly all of the best chances. Zac Lubin was solid in goal for the Pumas and Kitsap also got a few lucky bounces to avoid the home loss. Match photos at Facebook.com/goalWA

“Not a good match from us,” Kitsap midfielder Matt Friesen told the Kitsap Sun in their match report. “We gave away too many balls. The surface was wet, but we’ve all played on it. It’s not an excuse that’s acceptable.
“It’s not a loss,” Friesen added. “But I don’t think you’d look around and say anyone’s happy.”
The night’s other results kept the race for first place wide open. The Sounders U-23′s beat the Timbers U-23′s 4:3. In local action the North Sound SeaWolves rallied to top Victoria 3:2.
The match was played before the smallest home league crowd in Kitsap history. Only 228 fans braved the soggy night to see the draw.
