It was almost as if it was made to order. The Sounders U-23′s at the North Sound SeaWolves and Washington Crossfire at the Kitsap Pumas. All four of our Puget Sound PDL clubs playing each other, in two matches separated as the crow flies by just 21 miles. A derby cup hanging in the balance.
Wilson Tsoi captured the Sounders / SeaWolves match in Edmonds (gallery here) and David Falk and Madi Williamson were shooting away in Bremerton. (David’s shots here, Madi’s collection here. Be sure to like her “Soccer Boss” Facebook page as well.)
When the sun had completely gone down on the humid night the U-23′s had done their best to rise up the PDL ladder and keep their Ruffneck Cup chances alive. They scored a 5:0 win despite North Sound goalkeeper Claudio Lazar’s superhuman stint in goal.

Justin Robbins scored the winning goal in Kitsap’s 2:1 Ruffneck Cup clincher over Washington Crossfire. (Madi Williamson)
21 miles across the Sound in Bremerton Washington Crossfire were riding a 2nd-minute goal. Then in the 72nd and again in the 85th the Pumas sent their fans into jubilation. Kitsap has never lost a local derby cup in their four seasons.

After winning the Narrows Bridge Bell in 2009, 2010 and 2011, the Kitsap Pumas saw that derby cup go away when Tacoma Tide FC was taken over by the Sounders. The new Puget Sound derby cup including all four sides takes over, and the Pumas haven’t missed a beat. (Madi Williamson)
