The STATE of Soccer in WASHINGTON

Spokane Shine stay in the hunt with big win over Portland Rain

Washington clubs were two-for-two in Oregon on Sunday. Before the Kitsap Pumas nipped the Timbers U-23′s 1:0 in Hillsboro the WPSL match at the same stadium ended in a 1:0 win for the Spokane Shine over the Portland Rain.

A 17th-minute corner kick by Lisa Robertson found Darci Smith for the Shine winner. Spokane had beaten Eugene Metro Azul on Friday by the same 1:0 score to set up Sunday’s big result.

In other weekend results the Seattle-area clubs beat up on the Oregon Rush, with Issaquah taking an 8:0 win on Friday and Emerald City FC taking a 10:0 triumph on Saturday.

This week will decide the two playoff spots in the division. Read more about WPSL NW playoff scenarios here.

Emerald City plays three matches this week: Issaquah, at Spokane, and at Issaquah.

Spokane hosts Emerald City and then Oregon Rush.

Issaquah plays ECFC twice.

Portland hosts Eugene Metro in their 10th and final league match.
