On day one of the Washington / Oregon Showcase Invitational Issaquah and Skyline beat their opponents from Oregon. Bellarmine fell to a split Tualitin side.
Issaquah 2:1 Tualitin (W)
The Issaquah Eagles improved to 3-0-0 with a 2:1 victory over highly-touted Tualitin. The Oregon school had played Bellarmine earlier in the day. Corrine Togiai gave the Oregonians the lead in the 24th minute. Then Issy responded with a goal by Rachel Wheeler (Juliana DaCruz assist) at 62:00 and the winner by Audrey Thomas (Rachel Wheeler assist) at 78:00. The Tualitin Timberwolves were ranked as high as 3rd in the country last season. Issaquah will face Westview of Beaverton, Oregon on Saturday September 8th at 5 PM (Skyline High School).
Skyline 2:0 Westview (Beaverton) (W)
The Spartans improved to 2-0-1 by riding two goals in a five-minute second half span over the Westview Wildcats. In the 50th minute Lianna Simms put Skyline up 1:0 off of an assist from Amanda Johnston. It was 2:0 Spartans five minutes later when Jordan Branch scored an unassisted goal in the 55th.
Skyline will face Tualitin September 8th at 2:30 PM .
Tualitin 2:0 Bellarmine Prep (W)
The Timberwolves split their squad and played Bellarmine Prep at 3 PM on Friday, coming away with a 2:0 win before taking on Issaquah at 7:30 PM (see above). Westview will play two matches on September 8th. Tualitin’s goal scorers were not available at the time of this post.
