KIRKLAND — Behind Anna Deweirdt’s two assists, Skyline defeated Everett in a nonleague game. Haley Ayers scored the lone goal for the Seagulls. It was the first loss of the season for Everett (4-1-0) while Skyline remains undefeated after six matches with four wins and two draws.
Dale Garvey was at the match and caught the first two Skyline goals (see below). See a Garvey match gallery here.
Everett was recently featured in a season preview article in The Herald. “Without even telling them, (the returning players) know that the goal is to be a state champion,” Seagulls head coach Kosta Pitharoulis said in the feature. “But its definitely something I want to make sure that some of the new faces are very aware of as well.”
Skyline recently hosted a non-league state champions tournament that goalWA reported on. The Spartans are a favorite to repeat as state title holders. In the most-recent Seattle Times poll Skyline is ranked 4th in 4A. The Everett Seagulls are ranked 7th in 3A.
