KIRKLAND, Wash. – Three Northwest University goals in the first half sealed the 4-1 win over Northwest Christian (Ore.) in Cascade Conference play Wednesday afternoon giving the Eagles their third straight league win. Dale Garvey was at the match and has a gallery of photos over on his website.

Northwest U. scored just 2:45 into the first half as Alex Taylor (Issaquah, Wash.) scored from 20 yards out from the right side after taking teammate Mackenzie Samuelsen’s (Woodinville, Wash.) pass. Do-Hee Kim (Seoul, S. Korea) took Taylor Young’s (Bellevue, Wash.) cross and scored his goal from 8 yards out in the middle and Mackenzie Samuelsen completed the first half scoring as he drilled his free kick past the NCU goalkeeper, Dusty Stephens, from 20 yards out just left of center.
Chris Longi broke the scoring drought for Northwest Christian with his unobstructed blast (56:02) from 25 yards out on the left side that sailed past NU goalie, Joe Galbraith (White Fish, Mont.). Northwest’s Jonathan Ellis (Kirkland, Wash.) finished the scoring for Northwest as he scored on a deflection off the NCU keeper from 6 yards out in front at the 63:43 mark. His score came after Alex Taylor had right footed a 8 yard blast which came off Stephens’ chest which Ellis put his foot on for the score.

Northwest U. (5-1-1, 3-0 CCC) outshot NCU 20-9 and corners were even at 6 per team. Northwest Christian goalkeeper Stephens had 9 saves before leaving the game in the 71st minute. NCU managed only two shots on goal for the contest.
NU will now travel to Portland on Sat., Sept. 22 to play Concordia at 6 p.m. while Northwest Christian will host Corban at 6 p.m. in Eugene, Ore.
