WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington senior forward Nate Sackeyfio was named the Pac-12 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 8-14, the Conference announced Tuesday.

He scored the first goal in the contest against the eighth-ranked Bruins off of a flip throw from junior Michael Harris in the 13th minute of play. The victory was the Huskies’ first road win of the season, snapping the Bruins’ 16-game winning streak in Pac-12 play that dated back to Oct. 24, 2010.

In the game against the Cardinal, Sackeyfio scored in exciting fashion when he headed the ball into the right corner of the net off a free kick from senior Ben Fisk to lead the team to a 2-0 victory.
Washington is undefeated in Pac-12 play after going 3-0 last week and leads in the Pac-12 standings.
It is Sackeyfio’s first-career player of the week honor. It is Washington’s 26th all-time player of the week and the second this season.
The Huskies hit the road to California on Friday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m., then head for a rematch at Stanford on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 3 p.m. Both games will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks. Washington’s matches will be broadcasted in nine of the unprecedented 28 live Pac-12 men’s soccer contests on the Networks this season.
Sackeyfio was named GoHuskies.com Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday for his efforts and also to the College Soccer News Team of the Week.
