Bellingham United partners with Dutch club VVZwammerdam

BELLINGHAM, Wash.- Bellingham United Football Club is excited to announce a new overseas partnership with Dutch club VVZwammerdam.

Washington’s breakout soccer club of 2012 continues to expand its horizons around the globe after last year’s announcement of a link to English club Manfield Town FC, with the new announcement of a partnership with 64 year old VVZwammerdam based in the village of Zwammerdam, Holland. Given the clubs have off setting seasons, both are hoping to use this new partnership to their advantage and entertain the possibility of exchanging players and opportunities for international friendlies.

VVZwammerdam chairman Jaap Peters had this to say about the partnership:

“Next year our club will turn 65 years old and we would love to have Bellingham United FC be our guest next summer as we celebrate this milestone. This could give be a great chance for BUFC to play a few games in our country. I really hope VVZwammerdam will be able to deliver two young players for a few months each season (June-August) who can add value to BUFC. “

Bellingham United FC Owner Jeff McIntyre also has expressed his excitement for the partnership saying that he looks forward to the potential of player swapping for training purposes as well as international friendlies. The BUFC ownership group hopes to develop the relationship with VV Zwammerdam to create new opportunities for BUFC players training abroad as well as offering opportunities to Zwammerdam players to participate in training sessions in the US.

VVZwammerdam is a 350 member football club and sporting complex complete with two fields, a turf training pitch and clubhouse. VVZwammerdam is made up of seven senior men’s teams playing at various levels in the Dutch football pyramid, a women’s team and nine junior teams. The club was established in 1948 in the beautiful village of Zwammerdam, Netherlands.

Bellingham United Football Club is a premier semi-pro men’s soccer team based in Bellingham, Washington. The club plays in the Pacific Coast Soccer League based in British Columbia, Canada. All home matches of Bellingham United F.C. are played in Civic Stadium in Bellingham and the season runs from late April through late July.
