SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Puget Sound women’s soccer team saw its season come to a close with a 1-0 loss to Trinity on Saturday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Trinity advances to face Hardin-Simmons tomorrow.
The Loggers (14-5-1) managed just three shots against the West Region’s top-ranked team and put two on goal. Two of those shots were put on goal and both came in the final five minutes. Haley Rosenberg and Amalia Acorda-Fey each forced Katie Garrett to make a save in the waning moments to preserve the shutout.
The lone goal of the match came in the first half at the 25:11 mark. Kelsey Falcone found the back of the net on an assist from Emily Jorgens.
The Tigers (15-1-2) earned a 13-3 advantage in shots but Casey Thayer was there to make four saves for the Loggers in goal.
The Loggers return all but one senior next year and will look to win a 12th consecutive NWC title.
