TACOMA, Wash.— The Tacoma Stars of the Professional Arena Soccer League scored 25 goals over the weekend in taking down the winless Sacramento Surge 13:2 and 12:5. The second match was a 11:00 AM kick-off at the Pacific Sports Center and Wilson Tsoi was on hand to shoot the action. See a selection of shots below and all of Tsoi’s Stars gallery at Facebook.com/goalWA.
“The weekend went great,” said Stars player Jeff Bader.
“We played well from top to bottom and with injuries and players out it was a great opportunity for new players to get some game time and prove themselves. Saturday night was a very physical game with a lot of penalties and a few red cards handed to the other team. I think we handled it well and did most of our talking by putting numbers on the score board. We came in with a disciplined game plan and and used it to prepare for next weeks match up with San Diego and Mexico.”
The Stars are without goalkeeper David Meherg and defender Steve Mohn for at least a few weeks. Brian Peeling (San Diego) is currently in goal for the Stars.
Bader says the Surge visit is just what the Stars needed. “It couldn’t have come at a better time. We now stand with a winning record and hopefully we will continue with this momentum into next weekend.”
The Stars are now 3-2 on the season and move into third place in the Pacific Division. We will post match details as they become available.
