TURLOCK, Calif.—The Tacoma Stars extended their PASL win streak to three matches and reached the .500 mark at 6-6 in a 6:4 afternoon tripumph against the Express in Turlock, California on Friday January 25th. A few hours later the streak ended when the Express beat Tacoma in the nightcap, 9:5.

Mark Lee scored the first and final goals for the Stars in the 6:4 win. The match was a low-scoring affair, with Tacoma holding on to a 3:2 lead entering the fourth quarter. In the final period the Stars and Express doubled that score. Micah Wenzel, Derek Woodworth and Mark Lee scored to give the Stars a 6:3 lead before the Express pulled one back late to make the 6:4 final. For the briefest of moments the Stars used their first away win of the season to climb into second place in the Pacific Division.
The second match was all Turlock. The Express led 7:3 at halftime and both sides’ legs grew tired in a 2:2 second-half stalemate that gave the home side a 9:5 win. With the loss the Stars fell to 6-7 on the season and the Express improved to 7-7 and retook second place. The Turlock Facebook page notes that the second match takes the place of one originally scheduled between the two sides for February 15th.
The Stars are in Sacramento Saturday night January 26 to face the Surge.
