ARLINGTON, Wash.— The first-year Arlington Aviators completed an undefeated home regular season on Sunday night January 27 with a 6:5 victory over the Wenatchee Fire at Soccer First Indoor Sports. The victory lifted Arlington to their highest point ever in the PASL NW Division. The Aviators are now 4-3 with 12 points and in third place with one match left on their schedule, February 9 in a rematch at Wenatchee. On Saturday Arlington topped Oregon, 6:5. (PASL scoreboard.)

The match was a series of momentum swings. Arlington was up 2: 0 after one, goals by Dana Garner (Jacobi Goodfellow) and Russ Brown (unassisted). The Fire bounced back to take a 3:2 advantage at half on goals by Juan Barboza, Mauricio Lopez, and Alejandro Escalera.
The Aviators soared after the break. A four-goal third period saw Arlington up 6:3 heading into the final quarter. The Aviators got goals from Dana Garner (Bryan McLeod), Tyler Werner (unassisted), Jacobi Goodfellow (unassisted), and Aaron Burns (Bryan McLeod) in the third.
Wenatchee rallied and ended the match on a power-play attack, but Arlington goalkeeper Jeff Renslo came through with 18 saves and the newcomers prevailed 6:5. Wenatchee’s fourth quarter rally came on goals by Johnny Rodriguez and Rene Aviles.
Since the downbeat season opener which Arlington lost by nine goals the new team has won four of six and would make the playoffs if they can take the rematch with the Fire in two weeks in Wenatchee.
It was a busy weekend for the Aviators, who also thanked goalWA.net photographer Wilson Tsoi for his help in branding the new club.
