ARLINGTON, Wash.—goalWA.net doesn’t just report local soccer news, sometimes we help make it, too! Such is the case with photographer Wilson Tsoi and the Premier Arena Soccer League Arlington Aviators.
The new team needed a name, so goalWA.net helped sponsor a contest. Wilson Tsoi submitted the name “Aviators.” Not only that, but Tsoi also later sent in a crest design.
“Aviators” won the online vote, and Arlington used Tsoi’s crest idea, too.
On Saturday night January 26 when the Aviators hosted Oregon Wilson Tsoi was behind the lens as usual, shooting great shots in tough indoor arena lighting. This time though he was also on the pitch, getting an Arlington jersey as thanks for his help getting the new team look put together.
This is the second time a site contributor has helped name a new club. Editor David Falk submitted the name “Shine” for the Spokane franchise of the WPSL in 2011. The Spokane Shine will play their third season this spring.
The Aviators beat Oregon, 8:5. See Wilson’s entire match gallery at Facebook.com/goalWA.

I wish the Aviators best of luck on the upcoming road trip to Wenatchee and possibly matching its big league counterpart SFC in making the playoff in its first season!
