TUKWILA, Wash. –– (press release) The W-League and Seattle Sounders Women announced the 2013 schedule today. The schedule includes 12 W-League matches and at least four exhibition matches. Starfire Sports Stadium will host a minimum of 11 home matches for 2013.
Sounders Women will kick off their season with 4 exhibition matches against northwest colleges. As in 2012, the Sounders will host Seattle Pacific University, Seattle University, and the University of Washington, while also adding Oregon State to the schedule, beginning on April 14th.
“Last season our matches with local colleges were some of the best crowds all season,” Co-Owner, Lane Smith said. “We enjoy these games as a win-win for the community, our colleges, and the Sounders Women.”
The Sounders Women enter the W-League regular season, on May 27th, by hosting the LA Strikers. The Sounders Women will compete for the Western Conference crown against four California teams, and two sides from Colorado. One of those California teams, Bay Area Breeze, is a newcomer to the W-League. The Breeze will be a top challenge as they are a fully professional team.
Following the regular season, the top two finishers in the Western Conference will play a one-match playoff to represent the West in the W-League National Final on July 26-28.
Sounders Women season ticket packages are available now starting at $100.00 for Jet City Auxiliary members on SoundersWomen.com. Single Match tickets will go on sale February 13th if availability allows.
