We’ve got more Italian press to share today involving new WPSL club AC Seattle (see previous press here). This time the article involves a second player to be joining the club, Italian midfielder Caterina Kensbock.
IamNaples.it posts the story here. The translated highlights are that Kensbock, an Italian midfielder, will come to Seattle for the season which starts in June. The story mentions that despite a non-Italian-sounding name, Kensbock is a native and has been raised on soccer in Naples. The article suggests that American soccer is ahead of the sport at the women’s level in Italy, which is in part why the Italian players both want and need to come over and challenge / raise their game. There is also a suggestion that AC Seattle may go to Naples in September and compete in the “City of Naples Trophy.” OSA President and AC Seattle founder Giuseppe Pezzano is responsible for the connection bringing Kensbock to Seattle.
Kensbock plays for Napoli CF of the Italian Women’s Serie A. http://www.napolicalciofemminile.it/ and http://www.calciodonne.it/it/home/serie-a
