SEATTLE, Wash.—(club release) Reign FC will play three pre-season matches in Japan, including a March 17 match against two-time Japanese Division 1 champion INAC Kobe Leonessa. INAC Kobe features 2011 FIFA Player of the Year Homare Sawa.
The match on March 17 will be played at Koza General Sports Park Athletics Stadium of Japan’s Okinawa prefecture. A second game is March 20 against Fukuoka and details for a closed-door third game on March 24 will be announced shortly.
“Our objective is to become one of the top women’s football clubs in the world,” said Reign FC general manager Amy Carnell. “That process will start by testing ourselves against a talented, championship club that features some of the world’s strongest talent. We’re excited by the opportunity to play and train in Japan and are honored to play our first match against one of the giants of women’s soccer.”
