The Professional Footballers Assocation (PFA) has released its short list of candidates for the first-ever Women’s Player of the Year honor, and Seattle Reign FC’s Jess Fishlock is still in the running.

Fishlock helped Bristol Academy achieve their highest ever finish in the Women’s Super League in 2012 as well as reaching the semi final of the FA Cup and Continental Cup.

She also won a host of awards during a hugely successful second season at Bristol Academy and has now been recognised by her fellow PFA members for her performances.

Below is a video interview with Fishlock just after she was signed by Seattle.

“I am really excited to be a part of Seattle Reign,” Fishlock said in a February interview, “and I am quietly confident that myself and the fans will have a great relationship.

I hope that I can provide them with entertainment and hopefully give them what they want to keep them coming back.”

Fishlock is the Captain of Wales, and was a stand-out performer in Seattle’s 1:1 draw at Chicago in week one.

Column for BBC Sport

Fishlock has a column on BBC Sport about her American ‘soccer’ adventures.

“Everyone in women’s football knows how big the game is in America,” Fishlock. They completely back it, they have a massive fanbase and it’s highly regarded over there. It’s definitely one of the places, from a professional point of view, where you want to play.
