The STATE of Soccer in WASHINGTON
REDMOND, WA — If there is one thing the Kitsap Pumas know how to do, it’s beating their local rivals. The Bremerton bunch rarely lose to Puget Sound’s other PDL sides. It happened again on Saturday night May 18 in Redmond as Kitsap outlasted Washington Crossfire 1:0.The Pumas winner was scored by Shane Malcolm in the 22nd minute. Kitsap had to hang on at the end as they were reduced to ten men on a 75th-minute ejection of Andrew Stirling.
Crossfire outshot the Pumas 11-6 but Dustyn Brim held tight in goal for the Kitsap shutout.
The Pumas now lead in the Ruffneck Cup race with three points. Last year Kitsap won the Puget Sound Derby cup by holding off the Sounders U-23′s.
Washington Crossfire has a break before again hosting the Pumas on May 28 in Redmond. Meanwhile the Pumas return to league action on Friday May 24 when they cross the Narrows Bridge and play the Sounders U-23 at Curtis High School (Ruffneck Cup match.)
Washington starts the season 0-0-1 in PDL NW play while the Pumas improve to 1-0-2.
