Kasy Kiarash scored two first-half goals on Saturday June 8 as the Kitsap Pumas drew 2:2 with the Vancouver Whitecaps U-23′s at Gordon Field. For his brace Kiarash has been chosen as goalWA.net Washington PDL Player of the Week.

“Kasy is a great young man and a true professional,” says Pumas head coach James Ritchie. Kiarash was playing his first league match in hoops.

“Kasy was very unfortunate to pick up an injury in pre-season that kept him out for several weeks. The effort and focus he has shown on the practice field to get back in the starting squad has been tremendous. I am very pleased with his progress this year. He is proof to all young players that hard work and an amazing attitude will get you great results.”

Kasy was born in Iran and moved to Canada in 1996 where he began to play and pursue soccer. As a youth player he found success after playing for Hearts Azzurri. In 2005, Kasy was chosen to participate in the Canada Games where he helped team Ontario win a national championship.

With overseas experience in Belgium as a youth player he completed one month trials with Rsc Anderlecht ( Belgium) and R.E Mouscron ( Belgium) in the summer of 2005 and 2006.

Upon graduating from Sir John A Macdonald Secondary School he decided to join the York University Lions. After completing two successful seasons at York University where Coach Kiarash helped the team to its first top 10 ranking in five years he transferred to Graceland University, where he graduated in 2012.

The Kitsap Pumas signed the forward after seeing him in combines early in 2013.

In the first half Saturday against the Whitecaps Kiarash was on the end of perfect passes and finished strongly with a curving shot away from the goalkeeper and a quick-reaction combination play just before the break.

Kitsap Pumas Fan groups also awarded Kasy their Man of the Match for the brace.
