EDMONDS, WA — Last year the Sounders U23′s outscored the North Sound SeaWolves 13-1 over three matches. This season in a much-tighter Puget Sound scene the Edmonds, WA boys are sticking closer to the MLS-affiliated outfit.

When the two clubs met on June 5th in Sumner North Sound fell by a single goal, 1:0. On July 4th the break through the SeaWolves have been hunting for finally happened. This time it was North Sound taking its first win ever over the Sounders U23′s, 1:0 before over 600 fans at Edmonds Stadium.
The result is a big one in terms of the race for the Puget Sound Derby, the Ruffneck Cup. Suddenly it is a three team race with just three matches left to play.
The SeaWolves visit the Kitsap Pumas on Sunday July 7. Then they host Washington Crossfire on July 12th. The next day, July 13, the Sounders U23 visit the Kitsap Pumas.
On July 4th, it was a goal by University of Washington Husky transfer (Dartmouth) Brad Jacobson that lifted North Sound. His goal in the 60th minute, assisted by Brady Ballew, held for the rest of the match.

The SeaWolves’ Dylan Faber faced 15 shots and was credited w ith 10 saves in the North Sound goal.
It was a big day for the SeaWolves in Edmonds. They were part of the local 4th of July parade (see photo) before taking the pitch against the Sounders.
For the U23′s, it was a tough loss that has both cup and playoff implications. The Sounders are in a race to catch the Vancouver Whitecaps U23′s for the third and final PDL NW playoff spot. Now after equal matches played (11) the Sounders remain 3 points back. The U23′s have three matches left: home against Victoria July 7, and then at Kitsap and at Portland. The Whitecaps final three matches are Portland, Washington and at North Sound.
