200-fbWENATCHEE, WA — The Evergreen Premier League (EPLWA) is being founded in part to help semi-pro men’s soccer clubs in the state of Washington establish themselves and have a league to play in statewide. One of the ways the EPLWA can help is to guide clubs with their “look” and through league Branding Director Timothy Hamilton (bio), help them develop a crest / logo. These services are eventually going to be available to clubs after they have applied to the league and been accepted. However, in the case of brand new club Wenatchee United FC, the league has begun work with them right now.

WUFC has officially applied to join the EPLWA for the 2014 debut season. They are founded by Javier Reyna.

“The North Central Washington area (NCW) has several adult amateur leagues full with talented and skilled players ready to play on a higher and organized level,” Reyna says. “That is why we think Wenatchee and the EPLWA would be what NCW soccer players and fans have been waiting to have  for a long time.”

Wenatchee United was contacted by the EPLWA to explore how they might “look” as a club, including details such as where they would play, and their team colors. Those details will be announced later if / when the club is accepted into the league.

However, we wanted to give you a peak at the design process we are going through with United. Reyna and Hamilton have been sharing ideas back and forth. Wenatchee would like to wear green and white as their primary colors. They also love the Celtic FC crest. So this gave Hamilton a bit to go on.

“The idea behind Wenatchee United FC  is to unite  Wenatchee and East Wenatchee with one soccer team the cities can root for. Greater Wenatchee is divided by the Columbia River and connected by the George Sellar Bridge. So we thought it would be appropriate to have the bridge  in our team crest,” Reyna explains.

Hamilton eventually sent Reyna the concept you see posted below.

This is just one small example of how a brand new local club can use the Evergreen Premier League to focus its mission.

We will be following along to see if Wenatchee United FC is accepted into the EPLWA,  and if so how they go about putting their club together.
