STARS-LOGO-new-575SEATTLE, WA — The Evergreen Premier League (EPLWA) will debut in the spring of 2014 with eight clubs across the state of Washington. The league will need around 160 players to fill its club rosters. On September 22 FC Three Rivers Tri-Cities hosted an open tryout.  All of the other clubs will eventually be having tryouts before next season.

Seattle Stars FC are currently playing in the Starfire Premier League and upgrading their “look” as they prepare for the EPLWA.

Even though they have not set official dates and times yet, Stars head coach Alex Kajumulo (link) wanted to get the word out about his club’s tryout intentions, so he took to Facebook to post the message below:

2013-14GOALWA-BANNERPROMOTE

Soon we’ll be having tryouts for the Stars as we become semi-professional. We’re gonna be looking for quality soccer players who want to take soccer to the next level.

EPLWA Logo-06-500There are so many quality soccer players around Washington state, many of them are immigrants and have come to the US with little or no English. Many of these young players are unable to play soccer at the middle and high school levels because of the need to focus on school and grades and the lack of funds to pay for participation.

With the Seattle Stars and this league, we have an opportunity to open up a soccer path outside of the standard high school to college to professional track. Right now, if you don’t play in high school, you can’t play in college, and if you don’t play in college, the MLS won’t look at you.

As the head coach of Seattle Stars, I want to make this team into a place that professional recruiters will look for talent. I’ll be working hard to build relationships with professional teams around the world and FIFA agents. I need my players to bring their best game to tryouts. I invite all young men with a serious love of soccer, aged 15 and up to come tryout.
