WENATCHEE, WA — Wenatchee United FC announces that Sebastian Moraga will be the play-by-play man for the inaugural season of the team in the Evergreen Premier League of Washington.
“We are happy to have Sebastian join our team,” said Javier Reyna, co-owner of the team. “He will serve an important role and help us expand our reach to fans listening and watching at home or at work.”
A native of Chile, Moraga began his professional broadcasting career as the voice of the Yakima Reds of the United Soccer League in 2008. After that, he joined the broadcast team of the University of Washington’s soccer teams, where he has worked for the past five years. In addition, he has worked since 2012 as the play-by-play announcer of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference women’s soccer playoffs.
“This is a great opportunity for me,” Moraga said. “I have waited a long time to be able to broadcast a full season for a team again. The fact that it’s a team right here in Wenatchee makes it even better.”
“After graduation, I worked as a print journalist for years, but the broadcasting bug never really left. I did two games for Cashmere High School in 2008 and that’s all it took to get me interested in calling games again.”
With Moraga on board, the Wenatchee United FC now will turn their attention to the other members of their broadcast team. The club still seeks someone to work the online video stream, a team photographer and a color commentator.
