Reign trade Bogus, stock up on 2014 draft spots

reign-crownSEATTLE, WA – Dec 5, 2013 – Seattle Reign FC announced Thursday the club has traded forward Liz Bogus to FC Kansas City in return for the No. 15 overall selection in the 2014 National Women’s Soccer League College Draft. In addition, Seattle has swapped the No. 17 overall pick in the 2014 NWSL College Draft for FCKC’s third-round pick in the 2015 draft.

Seattle acquired Bogus on Feb. 7 with the No. 26 overall pick in the 2013 NWSL Supplemental Draft. Bogus played in 20 matches last season, picking up one goal and two assists in 1,008 minutes.

“Liz was a huge part of our group last season and she will be missed,” Reign FC coach and general manager Laura Harvey said. “But when we looked at the upcoming season in the context of the changes we have planned, we feared her playing time could be limited. As a result, we felt the trade with Kansas City would be best for all involved.”

Reign FC now owns the Nos. 9, 15, and 26 selections in the 2014 NWSL College Draft, which will be held Friday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. ET at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
