The STATE of Soccer in WASHINGTON
ARLINGTON, WA — Head Coach Phil Bartlow of the second-year Arlington Aviators always knew that if his club could win an away match or two that they would be contenders for their division. The Aviators have never lost a league match at their Soccer First Indoor Sports home. Last year that meant going 4-0-0 at the venue. This season the Aviators are 3-0-0 at home, but the real progress has been on the road, where they are now 3-0-1 after a 14-11 win Saturday night in Burnaby BC against the Titans. See complete weekend recap here.
A club recap says: Burnaby scored first at 13:30 (0-1). At 9:30 Gunnar Johannesson tied it on an assist from Jeff Renslo (1-1). Corey Hendrickson (Hector Rodriguez) gave us the lead at 7:45 (1-2). Burnaby tied it again with 25 seconds left in the period. 2-2 after period one.
Burnaby got another quick goal at 13:20 to go up 3-2. Dana Garner (James Doherty) tied it again at 12:30 (3-3). We took the lead back when Andrew Escalante (Hector Rodriguez) scored at 8:45 (4-3). Austin Cohn (Russ Brown) extended the lead to 5-3 at 7:45. Burnaby fought back and scored goals at 4:50 and 2:30 to tie it once again (5-5). Connor Moe (Efrain Alvarado) put us back in the lead with 1:20 remaining in the half and it ended that way. Aviators 6 Titans 5.

Burnaby extended their lead with a goal at 14:20 (7-9) and then our offense woke up. Corey Hendrickson (Dana Garner) got us to within one at 10:45 (8-9). Then Dana Garner (Connor Moe) tied the game up one more time at 9:15 (9-9). Corey Hendrickson (Hector Rodriguez) gave us a 10-9 lead at 6:25 before Burnaby tied it again at 4:30 (10-10). Efrain Alvarado (Hector Rodriguez) put us back in the lead at 3:20 (11-10) but Burnaby came back one more time to tie it at 1:52 (11-11). Hector Rodriguez (unassisted) scored right after Burnaby’s goal (12-11) followed by another quick goal by Connor Moe (Dana Garner) at 1:26 (13-11). Hector Rodriguez (Connor Moe) got one more to finish the game with 16 seconds remaining in a wild game. Final Aviators 14 Titans 11.
“The Burnaby Titans are a good team, I was very impressed with how much they have improved since we played them in Arlington,” Bartlow tells goalWA.net. “I don’t think we played our best game but I’m always happy when we go on the road and come back with a win.”
The Aviators now lead the Kitsap Pumas by 1/2 game in the PASL NW North Division. The remaining schedule ends with what could be a decider when the Pumas visit Arlington on February 8th.
