HOOD RIVER, OR — South Sound Football Club of the Evergreen Premier League took to the road on Saturday March 29 for a pre-season friendly with National Premier Soccer League side Gorge FC (formerly SO Samba FC.) It was a soggy day on a muddy grass pitch and in the end the sides played to a 2-2 draw (photos).
South Sound traveled with a group of trialists still hoping to earn a spot on the club’s roster. The EPLWA side twice took the lead but were caught by the home club. It was 0-0 at halftime but then Pablo Santos gave the Shock a 1-0 lead. Gorge FC drew level before Jay Hardy put the Tacoma side back up, 2-1. Gorge FC later got an equalizer for the final result.
South Sound FC will continue training and playing scrimmages as they build up to their league debut on April 27 in Silverdale against WestSound FC.
