The coaching staff of Port Vale arose nice and early to travel down I-5 from Everett to Puyallup on Saturday morning. The effort was appreciated by coaches and players in the clinic which followed. Today Vale will take the pitch at 4 PM at Curtis High School against the local side Tacoma Tide FC.
Tacoma Tide FC Press Release
Tacoma Tide FC host the Valiants of Port Vale FC today at 4 PM at Curtis High School in an international friendly. Tickets are available at the gate for $10 (adults) and $5 (youth). In the first half of “South Sound Soccer Sunday” the Sounders Women host the Colorado Force at the same venue at 1 PM. Tickets for the Sounders are also $10/$5. On Saturday the Tide hosted the coaching staff of Port Vale at the Washington Premier FC complex in Puyallup. In a clinic sponsored by the Tacoma Pierce County Junior Soccer Association, head Port Vale coach Micky Adams and his crew joined with Tide head coach Gerry Gray in a simulated practice session and chalk talk. Washington Premier FC provided players for the event.
“I really enjoyed the moment,” said Tacoma Tide FC assistant coach Mike Jennings. “It was great to get tips from the Port Vale people, and to see the coaches and kids listening so closely to what they had to offer.”
The clinic included player warm-ups, planning practice routines, a scrimmage, and ended with both head coaches giving clues about how they might approach this afternoon’s match.
