Picture Perfect: Wilson Tsoi captures spring battle for Huskies, Falcons, Vikings Women

SEATTLE, WA — (GoHuskies.com) The Washington Huskies Women had a successful evening on Wednesday for their doubleheader at the Husky Soccer Stadium. Washington earned a 0-0 draw with Western Washington, before defeating Seattle Pacific, 2-1.

Wilson Tsoi captured the action in two galleries: Washington v. Western and Washington v. Seattle Pacific.

A total of 18 Huskies saw action over the two games as head coach Lesle Gallimore wanted each player to get a look.

The first game was highlighted by some stellar defending and near misses at the offensive end. Tori Burns played the full game in goal and earned the shutout, while the defensive line did not allow much in the way of chances.

The Dawgs best chance came on a blast from newcomer Amanda Perez. The Mexican international fired a truly world-class strike from 30 yards out and despite it being past the Western goalkeeper it was kept out of the back of the net when it clanged off the post, just below the upper 90.

The Dawgs settled for the 0-0 tie, despite outshooting the Vikings, 16-5. Isabel Farrell and Hillary Zevenbergen also had good chances for Washington, but nothing came to fruition.

The second game provided more highlights with Washington defeating SPU, 2-1. Jaclyn Softli gave Washington the lead with a great first-half goal. Later, Lindsay Elston made it 2-0 Dawgs after converting a penalty kick. It was the second goal of the spring for Elston, who also scored at Portland.

SPU added a goal to make it 2-1, but the Dawgs defense was stellar over the final minutes, which led to chances on offense. Washington outshot SPU, 8-3, for the game, but was especially dangerous in the second half.

The Dawgs will host Oregon for their final spring game in Seattle on Sunday, April 21, at 11 a.m. The spring finale is against the Seattle Sounders Women on May 10 at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila.
