There were several good choices for goalWA.net Washington WPSL Player of the Week, but goalWA.net has settled on picking Marina Nesic for her one goal, two assist performance on Saturday night June 8 during a comprehensive 7:0 win over the Spokane Shine.
“Marina Nesic set up Megan Chapin for her first goal of the year and the game winner on a great through ball just four minutes into the game and that really set the tone for the rest of the match,” notes Emerald City FC head coach Niki Taylor.
“Nesic’s goal at the end of the game was a well taken chip from a difficult angle wide of the six and she was able to bend the ball over the goalkeeper and into the far side netting. Our attacking players are starting to click as they play together more and Marina is a big part of that with her vision and ability to create opportunities for herself and others.”
Nesic is a native of Serbia and played her senior year in college with the North Carolina Tarheels. Before then she was an award-winning player for Grand Canyon University.
Nesic is also on this week’s INWsoccerNews.com WPSL Three Stars list.
Last week another foreign talent was named as our Player of the Week: Trinadad and Tobago’s Kennya Cordner.
