WEST SEATTLE, WA— Emerald City FC and AC Seattle hooked up in a real thriller on Thursday night at Sealth Stadium in West Seattle. In the end it was the blue and green that edged the Italian-stocked AC Seattle on a worthy strike from Casey Berrier in the late going, 2:1. A rowdy crowd of around 200 appreciated the spectacle playing out in front of them.

Emerald City dominated the first half both physically and technically, controlling the pace and coming up with several good scoring chances. Finally they got one in when a group of players met in the box and eventually an own goal was credited to AC Seattle in the 35th minute. Casey Berrier had been in the center of the mob for ECFC.

ACS could have taken the lead during their improved run of play. Only a few minutes after they drew level ECFC goalkeeper Liz Ruiz made a spectacular one-handed tip save on a ball destined for the Emerald City net.

It all came down to the last stages and Casey Berrier’s long bomb that sailed into the far top corner of the AC Seattle goal after a proficient build-up.  The shot electrified the crowd and capped a hard-fought night of soccer. The score was officially recorded as coming in the 88th minute.
