SHORELINE, WA — Emerald City FC cruised to a fourth straight victory on Saturday afternoon June 15 at King’s High School’s Woosley Stadium over the winless Spokane Shine. In order for the match to be played ECFC had to loan players from their roster to Spokane. Issaquah SC also chipped in a player for the Shine.
“The Spokane Shine used four players from Emerald City’s roster and one player from Issaquah in order to have twelve players for the game,” ECFC head coach Niki Taylor said after the match.
“It’s not ideal, but is in-line with league rules as long as the visiting team can provide seven players and the guest players from other teams are registered with the WPSL and not starters for those teams.”
ECFC goals came from Marina Galaz (in 58th, assist Kate Bennett), Hillary Zevenbergen (in 65th, assist Marina Galaz), and Megan Chapin (in 84th, assist Caroline Brawner). Liz Ruiz started in goal for ECFC and Tori Burns completed the last twenty minutes of the shut out.
Emerald City FC is now 4-1-0 on the season while the Spokane Shine slip to 0-0-5. See updated table here.
