BELLINGHAM, WA — Khalsa Sporting returned the favor from their home loss at the feet of Bellingham United and delivered their own revenge with a 3:2 win over the Hammers on Sunday June 23 at Civic Stadium.
The only losses in league for the Hammers have been in front of their home fans. BUFC is 8-3-1 on the season with 25 points, but only 3-3-0 at Civic. Meanwhile Khalsa edged forward with 19 points to keep within distance of both the Hammers and the Kamloops Heat.
Things started well for BUFC when Kellan Brown scored in the 20th minute on an assist from Joel Grossman. Brown had his Hammers in the lead and also added to his total towards winning the PCSL scoring crown.
Khalsa answered back in the 33rd to make it 1:1 and then the Hammers replied when Kurtis Peterson found the rebound off a free kick in the 35th.
Right away the Hammers couldn’t stand their success and surrendered a second straight tying goal in the 37th. It stood 2:2 at the half. A 52nd-minute goal from the visitors was all that was left and it held as the Hammers fell again at home, 3:2.
