BEND, OR— Emerald City FC won their fifth WPSL match in seven outings with a 4:0 triumph over the Bend Timbers on Saturday afternoon June 29th.
Marina Galaz was the star of the show for ECFC as she scored three of the four goals. After the match the team decided to pose for a shot in a local cooling-off spot. They posted it on their Facebook page. See below.
EFCF is now 5-1-1 on the season with 16 points, pulling them ahead of AC Seattle for the second and final Washington playoff spot. AC Seattle hosts Issaquah SC Sunday night at Sealth Stadium in West Seattle.
The Bend Timbers remain without a win in the club’s two-year history. This season they are now 0-8-0.
With her hat trick, Marina Galaz jumps to five total goals scored on the season. She’s now second in the eight-club Northwest in goals, trailing only the seven of Tualatin Hills United Soccer Club’s Jen Stoltenberg.
Galaz, a native of Madrid, Spain plays college ball for the Reivers of Iowa Western. Last fall she scored nine goals in a single game.
Liz Ruiz further lowers her goal against average with the shut out. It now stands at .63, lowest in the division.
Emerald City stays in Oregon for one more day to face a tougher opponent on Sunday June 30 when they travel to Eugene for a 3 PM match against Eugene Metro Azul, an Oregon playoff contender.
