WSA Rapids 10:4 Snohomish Skyhawks (Final)
Rapids Report: The Rapids won 10-4 against the Snohomish Skyhawks, Saturday night during an extremely physical match. Yellow cards were issued to both teams in the first period and again against the Rapids during the third. Despite the physical play, the Rapids dominated the entirety of the match and Snohomish struggled to overcome the consistent pressure.
Chris Jepson set the tone, scoring his first of three goals within the first 30 seconds of the game. Brendan Quilici followed suit scoring two and newest addition to the PASL as well as the Rapids roster, Tyler Hughes also put two in the back of the net. Head coach Mark Lackey said, “Jepson had a few good goals & Tyler’s goals were not only fun for him but fun for the crowd too.”
Once the men settled into a rhythm, the physical play slowed during the second half. However, the Rapids continued to pressure Snohomish, adding six to the score. Riley Liddle had a strong performance in the net. Lackey remarked, “Riley did very very well and did a good job keeping things together. He even had an assist. We have to have a good goalie in order to succeed.”
Overall, the game was defensively focused which improved the Rapids odds. Lackey explained how important it was to have experienced players on the field by saying, “It was nice to have Greg Brisbon out there to help organize the team. Being defensively focused proved to be the difference in the game.”
The team was led in scoring by Chris Jepson (3), Brendan Quilici (2) and Tyler Hughes (2). Tony Clarke (1), Berh Ibarra (1) and Nick Saletto (1) also had great contributions. Assists were executed by Quilici (2), Joel Grossman (1), Greg Brisbon (1) and Riley Liddle (1).
The scorers for Snohomish were Danny Graham (1), Armind Makolli (2) and Casey Collins (1). Graham also had an assist.
The Rapids will be out of town this weekend, playing their rivals the Kitsap Pumas on Saturday the 21st at 7:00pm.
