Club to train at new home pitch ahead of 2014 NWSL season

SEATTLE, WA –  (club release) Seattle Reign FC will open preseason training camp on Monday, March 10, as they gear up for the 2014 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season. The club will begin preparations with a five-week training camp in Seattle.

General Manager and Head Coach, Laura Harvey will return for her second season at the helm, and the team will train and play home matches at their new home field, the Moda Health Pitch at Memorial Stadium.

In preparation for their 2014 campaign, Reign FC’s offseason was filled with a number of strategic moves designed to build a squad that features a deep collection of talent.

U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) stars Hope Solo, Stephanie Cox, and Megan Rapinoe all committed to return in 2014. Elli Reed, Keelin Winters, Lauren Barnes, Kiersten Dallstream and Kate Deines were all re-signed to contracts through the 2015 season.

Reign FC pulled of the biggest trade in NWSL history by landing USWNT star forward Sydney Leroux, and in a separate deal, Reign FC signed Scottish National Team midfielder Kim Little, who joins the club from Arsenal Ladies.

Fan-favorite Jess Fishlock signed a new contract that gives Reign FC the option to keep the midfielder through the 2016 season. Fishlock started in all 21 of her appearances in 2013, scored four goals, and was the lone member of Reign FC to be named to the NWSL’s Best XI team.

Through a series of deals and signings, Reign FC also added forwards Danielle Foxhoven (from Thorns FC), Naho and Bev Goebel (respectively, the MVP and the leading scorer in the Japanese league in 2013), midfielder Mariah Nogueira, who played in 20 matches for Boston in 2013, finishing with three goals and one assist, and Canadian National Team defender Carmelina Moscato.
