(club release) The Vancouver Victory took their game on the road for the 2nd week in a row and beat Portland Community College (PCC) 6-1 at the Sylvania PCC campus in front of 30 onlookers. Borce Atanasov got his second hat trick in consecutive games even though he only played in the first half.
The Victory got on the board when Alijah Sacirovich scored the fastest goal in V2FC history by finishing a cross from Davis Strawn 45 seconds into the game. Atanasov scored an unassisted goal in the 4th minute after cutting two defenders twice and beating the keeper who got a hand on the ball but couldn’t keep it out of the net.
Atanasov got his 2nd goal when he finished a pass from Jake Legett in the seventh minute. The game was physical and cautions played a part. Victory player Enrique Esparza was given a yellow card for dissention in the 4th minute and was given a 2nd yellow card and ejection for dissention in the 8th minute.
Playing a man down, V2FC continued to press the hosts with possession and shots on goal. They finally broke through with another goal in the 39th minute when Atanasov collected a through chip pass from Jerson Mejia and moved around the defender and goalie who collided with a PCC defender on the play to slot home an empty net goal to complete his hat trick.
Coach Biniam Afenegus and Assistant Coach Filomon Afenegus put in a completely new lineup as the 2nd crew took the field in the 2nd half. The pressure on PCC did not let up. The Victory continued to press PCC and dominate possession on a sloppy grass field in constant rain.
In the 55th minute, Mirza Ramic scored in consecutive weeks by ripping an upper corner shot off of a nice cross from Yoshi Hayashi. PCC got on the scoreboard with a great goal by Carsten Gibba in the 66th minute. Gibba took a ball from 30 yards out, moved the ball onto his right and scored a nice dipping blast.
Ramic scored his 2nd goal of the day and 3rd goal in two games when he curve a free kick from 23 yards out around the wall and neatly into the lower corner of the net in the 72nd minute. The goalie was left standing and looking at the perfectly placed ball.
Vancouver finished out the game with possession and knocking the ball about on the pitch. The Victory take the field Thursday April 24th against Portland club side Red Army at Luke Jensen field on Thursday with an 8:15 PM kick off. The match is free for season ticket holders. $2 for all other spectators.
