Reign FC host Houston Dash Sunday at Memorial Stadium

reignfc-croppedSEATTLE, WA – (club release) Seattle Reign FC (2-0-0, 6 pts) look to defend their undefeated 2014 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) record on Sunday, April 27 when they take on expansion club Houston Dash (1-1-0, 3 pts) at the Moda Pitch at Memorial Stadium. The game, which is slated to kick-off at 4 p.m. PT will be available via a live, high-definition webstream at YouTube.com/NWSL.

Reign FC moved to the top of the NWSL rankings after beating the Washington Spirit 3-1 in front of 1,754 fans on Wednesday, April 23. Seattle outshot the Spirit 14-5, adding three more goals to the clubs league-leading total of six.

Kendall Fletcher picked up her first goal of the season just three minutes into the match against the Spirit, while Keelin Winters netted her first off a powerful header three minutes into the second half. Jess Fishlock delivered her league-leading second assist of the season, matching it with a goal in the 80th minute to earn Player of the Match honors.

“I want people to fear coming to Memorial,” said head coach and general manager Laura Harvey. “For us to come out with two wins, score six goals, be hard to beat, we’re starting to set records from a franchise perspective and we’re starting to show we can compete in this league.”

Sunday’s match should prove the toughest test of the season thus far for Seattle, as Houston has been one of the NWSL’s early-season surprises. The Dash tallied their first win in franchise history in a 3-2 comeback victory against the Boston Breakers last Sunday, April 20. Midfielder Teresa Noyola not only scored the goal to push Houston to the win, but was also voted NWSL Player of the Week.

Sunday will mark the first of three meetings between the two squads for the 2014 season.

Single game tickets are available for Sunday’s match starting at just $19. Visit ReignFC.com or call (855) REIGN-FC for details.

Following Sunday’s match, Reign FC head out on the road, traveling to face Sky Blue FC on Wednesday, April 30 at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J.; kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. (Pacific) with a live, high-definition webstream available at YouTube.com/NWSL.
