SEATTLE, WA – (GoHuskies.com) No. 10 Washington improved to 4-1-0, defeating Pennsylvania (2-2-0) by a final of 3-1. The Dawgs completed a weekend sweep after also defeating Connecticut on Friday by the same score. Wilson Tsoi shot the match and shares the photos in this post.
The Dawgs dominated the game, but did not clinch the victory until late in the action. Washington had a 21-7 advantage in shots and took 12 corners to just three for the Quakers. Still, the Dawgs did not take the lead for good until the 86th mintute.

Huskies broke the scoreless tie in the 38th minute when James Moberg sent a cross to the feet of Darwin Jones. The Husky striker collected the pass, made a move to his right and blasted a low shot past the Penn goalkeeper for his fourth goal of the season. Moberg was credited with the assist, his third this year.
Penn responded just three minutes later with the equalizer. Austin Kuhn slipped a though ball behind the Husky defense that Duke Lacroix chased down to have a 1 v 1 with Ryan Herman. Lacroix pushed the ball to the side just out of Herman’s long wingspan a slid the ball into the back of the net.
The score remained tied until the half with the Dawgs getting the better of the possession and outshoothing Penn, 8-5. Still, the Quakers were even where it counts, on the scoreboard.
The game remained knotted at 1-1 as the end of regulation approached, despite Washington having the vast majority of the chances. Finally, UW retook the lead on their 11th corner of the game.

Moberg sent in another great cross towards the back post and Justin Schmidt was there to win a header in traffic and score his first goal of the season. Schmidt had been a key along the backline all game, but came forward for the set piece to net the game winner. Moberg earned another assist, his fourth of the year and 19th of his Husky career.
The Dawgs iced the game in the final minute as Jones scored his second of the game off a restart. After a handball on Penn, Mason Robertson quickly took the free kick and found Jones open in front of goal. Jones easily beat the goalkeeper for his fifth tally of the year.

The final result was not indicative of how close the score was most of the game, but was a fair result as Washington controlled play throughout.
After four straight at home, the Dawgs will now head out on the road, beginning with a trip to Florida. The Huskies take on Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 4 p.m., PT and South Florida on Sunday, Sept. 21, at 4:30 p.m., PT.
