TUKWILA, WA – (club release) Seattle Inter United FC is a semi-professional football club based in the South King County, WA area. The club has is a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a dedicated approach to the development of youth sports programs in King County including the city of Seattle. More specifically, Inter United seeks to provide soccer opportunities to the international communities of low-income immigrants and refugees, which is composed of a wide variety of foreign nationals including Ukrainians, Bosnians, Kurds, Somalis, Kenyans, Ethiopians & Mexicans, among others.
The philosophy of the club is to create an environment that helps athletes develop to their fullest potential when placed in a highly competitive setting playing with and against other quality players. For the upcoming season, Inter United has three core goals:
1.Create and sustain an elite soccer program that enables youth and young adults
make better choices for themselves and their communities based on the principles of discipline, competition, and accomplishment;
2.Create an environment that enables, assists, and monitors academic performance as well as create a scholarship fund for deserving athletes;
3. Raise awareness within US public discourse of the plight of immigrants and the conflicts in their home nations that have brought them to America.
“We are very excited for what the future holds for Inter United,” said Andriy Szwarek, a team manager for the club. “We have a solid vision, a specific strategy for implementing this vision, and there is a tremendous demand for soccer top-level soccer opportunities in underserved, refugee communities,” he added. “The biggest thing we need know is to identify partners who are willing to stand beside us as we look to take Inter United ‘to the next level,’” said Szwarek.
To accomplish its goals, Inter United has created a “Go Fund Me” campaign, available at http://www.gofundme.com/SeattleInterUnited. Funds raised through this campaign will assist the club in renting field time for training sessions and exhibit games, hiring of a USSF licensed coach to oversee the on-field operations of the club, pay registration costs for the club’s entry into the National Premier Soccer League and US Open Cup, and offset travel expenses for the club’s players. All donations to the Go Fund Me campaign are tax-deductible.
