Nate Ford leads Tacoma Stars’ return to action

cropped-stars_logo.pngThe Tacoma Stars are headed back into battle and they are glad to have midfielder / forward Nate Ford wearing their colors.

“The team is looking pretty good up to this point,” says Nate. “(Stars Head Coach) Darren (Sawatzky) is doing a great job putting together a quality side to compete in this league. We got a good group of veterans and some young talent that will complement each other nicely. We will get our first real test this weekend against the Impact. That will give us a good idea of where we are at and where we need to be.”

Ford is a graduate of Evergreen State University and has seen plenty of indoor soccer action over recent seasons. Ford lit up opposing goals while playing for South Sound FC Shock in the PASL. The Stars will be better whenever Ford is on the pitch.

“Nate’s strength is running directly at teams and that ability opens up a lot of stuff for the rest of the team,” former Shock head coach Jason Gjertsen said.

“Nate is the consummate competitor and the player every coach dreams of having on their team,” Stars GM John Crouch says. “He believes in the guys he has around him and he gets at teams and scores goals. He’s got amazing pace and his strength on the ball is insane.”

WISL Logo - 600For Ford the return to the Tacoma Soccer Center is like coming back home. “I couldn’t be more excited to be playing back at home again in the facility where it all started. I have been playing there for most of my life and to get to play there again in front of our home crowd is gonna be nice. Special thanks to John Crouch (Stars GM) and Lane Smith (Stars Majority Owner) for making it all happen.”

What’s the biggest thing on Ford’s mind ahead of Saturday’s Stars return? “I’m just focusing on what I can do to better my teammates and create a successful program that players can learn and grow from being a part of.”

Nate and the Tacoma Stars will host Seattle Impact FC of the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) on Saturday night October 25 at 7:30 PM in the Tacoma Soccer Center. This will be a great chance to catch the first public appearance and return of the Tacoma Stars before they begin play in the Western Indoor Soccer League! It’s Seattle v. Tacoma and it’s going to be fast action and fun.

Tickets are available online right now by going to www.TacomaStars.com and clicking on “Tickets.” Adults – $10, Seniors – $5, Youth ages 5 to 12- $5, Under 5 – Free.
