Defense proved to be the name of the game today as neither team would allow a goal although both Concordia and Northwest came close to scoring. CU’s Bobbi Eckler nearly won it for the Cavaliers in the 52nd minute when her shot hit the cross bar and dropped straight down but outside the goal as NU goalkeeper Patty Hughes scooped the ball up. Northwest U had a chance to win it when Concordia was whistled for a foul in the box in the second OT, but Cavalier goalkeeper, Olivia Brock, made a great save of Kelsey Greene’s penalty kick diving to the right to stop the score.

Each side had a shot in the 1st overtime as Bobbi Eckler’s shot was blocked by an Eagle defender and Acacia Johnson’s shot was saved by Brock.

Concordia pressed hard in the second overtime, but Erin Huisingh’s shot was blocked and Annika Hayman’s shot from 15 yards middle sailed over the crossbar.

Patty Hughes made four saves in goal for Northwest U while Olivia Brock stopped 6 Eagle shots on goal. Concordia held a 14-7 edge on the shots and had 9 corners to NU’s 1.
