FCT 253 announced last Friday that they were joining the NPSL, and further news out of the weekend’s national meetings suggest that the new Tacoma team may be one of just two clubs in the region.
On their official site FCT 253 posted this story, which includes:
The NPSL held its AGM this weekend. It provided some clearer view of how the inaugural season for FC Tacoma 253 will pan out. Three sides, Seattle Sporting, Inter and Gorge FC have disappeared from the Northwest Conference, a situation that would have left only Portland Spartans in the Conference.
The arrival of FC Tacoma 253 allowed the NPSL to keep the Conference alive but the 253 and Spartans will have to compete with sides from the strong Golden Gate Conference to ensure a schedule of ten fixtures.
The 253 will make two trips to Northern California playing back to back games in each, probably on a Friday and Sunday basis. They will host four of the Golden Gate sides to bring that to eight games against the Californians.
goalWA.net was unable to confirm the loss of Gorge FC, but we did exchange messages with Seattle Sporting and Inter United FC. Sporting owner Victor Perez confirms his club will be taking 2015 off from the NPSL, with plans to return in 2016. Nasir Tura of Inter United FC says his club will be deciding their fate in the next week or two.
